SMOK Nic Salts FAQs
What is E-Liquid?
E-liquid or vape juice is the liquid used in your vape kit to create those delicious clouds. Hundreds of flavours are available to suit all taste palates and various nicotine strengths to suit all preferences. They are one of the most important things to get right in your vaping journey, as they provide you with the nicotine satisfaction that you crave when you pick up your device.
What’s inside E-Liquids?
There are four main components inside your e-liquids, each having important parts to play in satisfying your nicotine craving.
Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG)
Creates the base for the vape juice and determines the cloud production and throat hit.
Nicotine
Can be in either freebase or nicotine salt forms, which have their independent characteristics.
Flavourings
Food-grade flavourings are there to create various tastes that suit all taste palates.
What is the difference between Nicotine Salts and Freebase Nicotine?
Salt nicotine is used in nicotine salt e-liquids and bar salt e-liquids. The salt form of nicotine became more popular than its freebase form very soon after its creation. Nicotine salt is found naturally in tobacco leaves, and with some chemical alteration, it is made into the nicotine salt that is used in vape juice.
Rapid Nicotine Absorption
Thanks to its chemical structure, nicotine salts absorb much faster into our bodies than their freebase form.
Smooth Throat Hit
Again, because of its chemical structure, nicotine salts are much smoother on the throat than their freebase form, even in high-strengths, nicotine salts are much easier to inhale with little to no throat hit.
Efficient Vaporisation
Nicotine Salts can be efficiently vaporised even in low-powered devices. Devices can be small, discreet and efficient at the same time.
Freebase nicotine, which is the pure form of nicotine, has distinct characteristics which some people prefer, especially as it is the original form of nicotine that’s been used in e-liquids since vaping was a thing. It’s used in all forms of e-liquids, from 10ml bottles to shortfills and nicotine shots.
Slower Absorption Rate
Because of its chemical structure, it's not as quick to work in the body as its salt nicotine form.
Harsh Throat Hit
In higher strengths, freebase nicotine can be very harsh, which people tend to dislike. However, in lower strengths, a little kick may be what people look for in their vape.
Direct-to-Lung Preference
Freebase nicotine works well when there’s enough power in the vape kit to vaporise it effectively. Essentially, freebase nicotine is mainly preferable for high-wattage vaping.
How do I use Shortfill E-Liquids?
Shortfill e-liquids are large bottles of nicotine-free vape juice that aren’t filled all the way to the top. This is so that you can add some nicotine shots to the bottle and create an approximately 3mg strength e-liquid.
Just simply add one or two nicotine shots of your liking to your bottle, however many are recommended and give it a good shake. After, you should leave the bottle to set for a little so that the liquids can mix and remember to give the bottle a quick shake before each refill for a balanced blend.
For MTL vaping, use a 50/50 VG/PG shortfill e-liquid with up to two nicotine salt nic shots for an e-liquid that closely resembles the likes of a ready-mixed 10ml nicotine salt e-liquid.
For DTL vaping, use a 70/30 VG/PG shortfill e-liquid with two nic shots of your choice to create an e-liquid that is perfectly blended for some high-wattage vaping.
What E-Liquid should I use with my Vape Kit?
There are many different types of vape kits, all shapes and sizes, that are capable of delivering various vaping styles. If you’re not sure which vape juice is best suited to your vape kit, then here’s a quick rundown:
For those with an MTL vape starter kit or a refillable pod vape kit, we recommend using either Freebase Nicotine E-Liquids or Nicotine Salt E-Liquids, including Bar Salts. There are plenty of flavours to go around in strengths from 3 mg to 20 mg.
For those with a more powerful Pod Kit or a sub-ohm vape kit capable of DTL Vaping, we recommend using shortfill e-liquids in a 70/30 VG/PG blend mixed with some nicotine shots for a long-lasting, vapour-maximising and unbelievably tasty vape juice.
